Step One : The software

First you will need to install software that will search the internet and automatically download each new episode to your computer - as and when it is published. .

The most popular podcast receiving software includes:

iTunes

Juice

Doppler

You can download and install these programmes free from their websites.

Step 2: How to Subscribe

Most Podcats Podcasts appear in the iTunes directory and if you have chosen iTunes as your podcasting software you can click the 'one click' button on the appropriate Podcats page. This automatically takes you to the iTunes page for that Podcast.

Alternatively you can search their full directory.

If you have gone with Juice or Doppler or other podcasting software you will need to follow the instructions they give but most podcasting software needs you to add the podcast or 'feed' of a podcast by inserting the URL address of the xml into their 'add' or 'subscribe' boxes.

The URL address is listed at the bottom of each Podcats client page or you can click on the orange xml button.'When you do this a page of computer code will appear on your screen, you can ignore that and copy the address that will appear in the address bar for you to paste in the 'add' or 'subscribe' box.

Some podcasting software allows you to drag and drop the orange xml button into the relevant box.

Step three: Listening to your podcasts

Now you have subscribed to some podcasts you'll want to listen to them! You can either listen on your computer or transfer it to an mp3 player so that you can listen later.

If you no longer want to receive new editions of a podcast you can simply 'unsubscribe' from it.
