Talking the Walk
Talking the Walk, picked up a silver award in this year's Excellence in Tourism event. The podcasts take you to the heart of some of England's loveliest historic towns and landscapes. They are made to complement walking maps - not simply as traditional audio guides to get you from A to B - but also to add colour to the history and life of the place. You don't even need to do the walk to enjoy it! They are featured on the Shakespeare Country website as well as on the Visit Britain and Enjoy England sites. For a taster see the video below - beneath that is the full audio version of the latest walk.
Episode Four - Compton Verney
Lancelot Capability Brown laid out the grounds of Compton Verney a grade one listed mansion house in the heart of Warwickshire not far from Stratford Upon Avon. This Talking the Walk takes us on a stroll round the lake to the Ha Ha and beyond with John Schumann - the head groundsman who took over from his father 30 years ago - and historian John Phibbs, who has made a particular study of Capability Brown's work. When you 've done the walk why not visit the house which is now an art gallery housing the Peter Moores Foundation collection.
